Behind the FIAT study stands a large network of people and organisations who are working together to make the FIAT study possible. In addition to the FIAT team at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, which is responsible for planning and organising the study, 10 health insurance companies are making a significant contribution by supporting the implementation of the study and collecting data on the costs of treatment. Close cooperation with patient, parent and expert committees is intended to ensure that the study is practical and feasible. The project partners support the implementation of the study in terms of content, the practical implementation of telemedically conducted FBT, and finally the preparation of data and calculation of results. On the following pages, you will find more information about the respective participants.
Team Charité
We would like to introduce ourselves as the FIAT team at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. We have extensive experience in treating young people with eating disorders and in clinical research. In addition to Germany-wide projects such as the FIAT study, we also collaborate internationally with scientists from the USA, England, Australia, France, and Switzerland to improve the prognosis for children and adolescents with eating disorders.
We have been conducting FBT at Charité since 2019 and have been collecting research data since then in order to analyse the effectiveness of the therapy in detail. The pilot study, which served to prepare for the FIAT study, was an important milestone and provided us with promising results, enabling us to begin planning the FIAT study in 2023.
We are an interdisciplinary team, which means that a wide variety of professional groups contribute their respective expertise in the fields of medicine, psychology and nutritional science to the projects. We work hand in hand in the fields of clinical practice and science and are committed every day to ensuring that the FIAT study is successful and can help as many families as possible.
